Hey there….stranger!

It’s been a minute…

As you may, or may not be aware, I haven’t written in a while…okay in like 8 months. I needed to take a step back from Adventures After Kids. I wanted to really understand why I started this business and what I was hoping to achieve. Initially, I thought the driving force behind Adventures After Kids was to build an online business to help supplement my husband’s income…but over the last year, I have realized that my drive is actually coming from a deeper felt need. The need for…

COMMUNITY

Being a mom is hard and a lot of times really lonely. And I am realizing more and more that it is not meant to be a solo gig.

I’m not just talking about the need to have a supporting partner. I am talking about the need to have a group of people there to support you and your kids. Because truth be told, motherhood was never meant to be done in isolation. It’s not great for our kids and it is definitely not great for us.

That is why going forward things are going to look a little different around here

Previously, I was focused on helping families get out and camp with their kids. Which was great, but my new direction will be on building a community of like-minded moms. How do I plan to do this? I am so glad you asked.

  1. Weekly Newsletters – The first step in building a community is building relationships. Through my weekly newsletters, my goal will be to help you get to know me a little bit better – and my hope is that you will give me the same courtesy. You can always hit reply to any of my emails and your response will come directly to my inbox. I LOVE hearing from my email subscribers and I hope that going forward it can be a more regular occurrence. If you aren’t currently subscribed to my newsletter, you can do that HERE.
  2. Facebook Group – To help you find moms in your area, I have created the Adventures After Kids Club Facebook Group. My hope for that group is that you will use it to find moms to get out and adventure with. I will be posting adventure meet-ups for Northern Utah, but you are also welcome to post meet-ups for your area. The group will also be a great place to ask questions about adventuring with kids, selling or swapping outdoor gear, etc. If you would like to join the Facebook Group, you can do that by clicking on the hyperlink above. We would love to have you!
  3. Mom Retreats – What better way to build community, than to take a break from the kids and have some mom time? The majority of these retreats will be short weekend getaways at an affordable price point. They will also include high-adventure activities such as rock climbing, canyoneering, white water rafting, etc. In fact, on Monday I will be opening the doors to our very first one and I am beyond excited!

Capitol Reef Mom Retreat – 2023

In my next post, I will be sharing all the details about this epic retreat and answering all of your questions. In the meantime know that we will be heading to Torrey, Utah for some hiking, star gazing, canyoneering, and of course some epic mom time.

I sure hope you can join me for this exciting event. This retreat is going to be a small affair (only 14 moms total will be able to attend) so you will want to register early and I would hate for you to miss out. Until next time!

P.S. So what do you think? Are you excited, confused, apathetic about the new direction of AAK? I would love to hear. Simply comment below.
